Operating the system3–24
3.13 Locating servers and SFS20 arrays
To help you to physically locate a server or an SFS20 array, the sfsmgr utility provides two commands that
turn on (or off) the blue unit identification (UID) LED on a server and the blue LEDs on an array, as follows:
To turn on the UID LED (which is visible at the front and back of the server) on a specific server, enter
the set server command as shown in the following example:
sfs> set server south3 locator=on
Use the locator=off option to turn off the UID LED.
If several servers have their UID LED turned on, you can turn them all off as shown in the following
example:
sfs> set server all locator=off
To turn on the blue LEDs on the SATA drives in an SFS20 array, enter the set array command as
shown in the following example:
sfs> set array 3 locator=on
Use the locator=off option to turn off the blue LEDs.
The all option is not available with the set array command.
Note also that SFS20 arrays display a two-digit chassis number in an LED display at the back of the array.
This is the number that the sfsmgr utility uses in the show array command. The number is set when the
array is first configured by the configure array command. If there are more than 99 SFS20 arrays in
the system, the two-digit number wraps (so that the LED display on array 103 shows the value 03).
