Downloading Trace Files Using the FD Dump Tool
TheRemoteWeb Consolesupportsthe FD Dump Tool function. The FD Dump Tool function is available
only to storage ad ministrators, and enables storage administrators to download the Remote Web
Console configuration information from the SVP either onto a floppy disk or onto a hard dis k drive. The
downloaded information (trace files) can be used by HP ser vice representatives to diagnose problems
related to Remote Web Console operations for troubleshooting purposes.
Note:
If you are unable to resolve an error condition, first copy the Remote Web Console configuration
information onto floppy disks using the FD Du mp Tool function. Contact HP technical support (see
“Calling HP Technical Support” on page 103), and give the information on the floppy disks to the HP
service
representative.
Caution:
If another user (including the SVP user) is using the FD Dump Tool function, or a maintenance
operation is being performed, you cannot download trace files using the FD Dump Tool function.
Caution
:
To download trace files to see the configuration information, click the Refresh All ( ) command
on
the me
nu bar
of the Remote Web Console firsttorefresh theconfiguration information, and then use
the FD
D
ump Tool function to perform the downloading operation.
To down
load theRemoteWeb Consoleconfiguration information (trace files) from the SVP:
1. On the
Tool Panel of the Remote Web Console computer, click Download Trace Files to open the
Download Trace Files dialog box.
The login dialog box is displayed.
2. Enter
the
user ID and password, and click Login.
The Download T race Files dialog box is displayed (see Figure 48 on page 93) .
If the SVP is set to support SSL-encr ypted communication, security messages might appear. For
details, see “ Using SSL-Encrypted Communication” on page 37.
3. Click
Normal Trace.
4. Click Next >>.
A
message that confirms the execution of compression of the trace filesisdisplayed.
5. Click
OK.
A
file compression processing starts (see Figure 49 on page 93). When the file is compressed,
the
Download Trace Files dialog box (see Figure 50 on page 93) for starting download is
displayed.
6. Clic
k
Download.
TheFileDownloaddialogbox is displayed.
7. On the File Download dialog box, click Save this file to disk, and then click OK.
TheSaveAsdialogbox is displayed.
8. Specify the download destination, and then click Save.
