Releasing a LUSE Volume

WA RN ING:

Releasing LUSE volumes is a destructive operation. Move and/or back up your da ta before

proceeding. De

lete all SCSI paths to the LUSE volume that you want released.

To release a LUSE volume:

1. Make sure that Remote Web Console is in Modify mode.

2. Select a CU number from the LDEV Information tree (in the upper-left corner of the LUN

Expansion

tab)

.The LDEV Detail table (in the upper-right corner of the LUN Expansion tab)

displays all LD EVs in the selected CU.

3. Select a LUSE volume in the LDEV Detail table(in theupper-right cornerofthe LUN Expansion

tab). Right-c

lick theLUSEvolumeto display the Rel ease LUSE Volume pop-up menu.

4. Click Release LUSE Volume.

5. The Release LUSE Volume conﬁrmation dialog box displays. Verify that the LUSE volumes listed

in the

conﬁrmation dialog box are the ones that you want released.

6. Click OK (or C

ancel).

: The new settings appear in the LUN Expansion tab in

blue bold italics

,but arenot yet

implemented.

7. Click Apply

8. Click OK (or Cancel).

Note:

If the selected LUSE volume has a path or if any volume other than a LUSE volume is selected, this

dialog box lists only LDEVs containing a LUSE volume to be released.

• List of LDEVs containing a LUSE volume to be released

This list shows the LD EVs containing LUSE volumes to be released.

• LDKC:CU:LDEV:This ﬁeld shows an LDEV icon. This ﬁeld also s hows an LDKC number, a

number, and an LDEV number.

Note:

An LDEV number that ends with a # indicates that the LDEV is an external volume

(for example, 00:00:01# ). For details regarding external volumes, see HP StorageWorks

XP24000 External Storage Software User’s Guide.

Note:

An LD EV numb er that ends with a letter V indicates that the LD EV is a virtual volume

(V-VOL) for XP Snapshot (for example, 00:00:01V). For details regarding V-VOLs, see HP

StorageWorks XP24000 Snapshot User’s Guide.
