If you do not want to perform a LUSE operation on a volume that has a path denition, click
Cancel. You are returned to the previous dialog box, and then you can retry the operation.
b. To perform a LUSE operation that will affect more than one SLPR or C LPR, click OK.A
conrmation dialog box appears. Then, go to step 5 .
If
you do not want to perform a LUSE operation that will affect m ore than one SLPR or
CLPR, click Cancel. You are returned to the previous dialog box, a nd then you can retry
the
operation.
c. If the displayed dialog box is the Set LUSE Conrmation dialog box, go to step 5.
5. Click OK to create the LUSE volume (or Cancel).
Note
: The new settings that appear in the window in
blue bold ita lics
are not yet registered to
the
storage system. The LUSE volumes that have be en created but are not yet registered to the
storage system (those in
blue bold italics
) can be reset to the state they were in before they were
created (see Resetting an Unregistered LUSE Volume on page 25).
6. Click Apply (or Cancel).
7. Click OK (or Cancel).
When you select and right-click the free LDEVs that you want to form a LUSE volume in the LDEV Detail
table, and select the Set LUSE Volume pop-up menu, the Set LUSE conrmation dialog box appears.
You can verify that the LD EVs listed in the c onrmation dialog box are the ones you want to create
aLUSEvolume.

LUSE components list
This list shows information for LDEVs that constitute the LUSE volume.
LDKC:CU:LDEV:This eld shows an LDEV icon. This eld also s hows an LDKC number, a
CU
number, and an LDEV number.
Note:
An LDEV number that ends with a # indicates that the LDEV is an external volume
(for example, 00:00:01# ). For details regarding external volumes, see HP StorageWorks
XP24000 External Storage Software User’s Guide.
Note:
An LD EV numb er that ends with a letter V indicates that the LD EV is a virtual volume
(V-VOL) for XP Snapshot (for example, 00:00:01V). For details regarding V-VOLs, see HP
StorageWorks XP24000 Snapshot User’s Guide.
Note
: An LDEV number that ends with a let ter X indicates that the LDEV is a virtual volume
(V-VOL) for XP Thin Provisioning (for example, 00:00: 01 X). For details regarding V-VOLs, see
HP StorageWorks XP24000 Thin Provisioning Software User’s Gu ide.
Emulation:This eld shows the emulation type for the LDEV.
