discovery features
HP Web Jetadmin applications are
discovered via an “always-on”
Universal Datagram Protocol (UDP)
port 8000 listener
HP Web Jetadmin instances can be
launched directly from the discovery
listing
The list can be modified by
performing other discoveries or by
manually removing instances
Once found, HP Web Jetadmin
installations are visible in the Web
Jetadmin Installations workspace with a
discovery progress display (Figure 17).
These installations are also viewable from
the feature found in Tools > Data
Synchronization from the HP Web
Jetadmin menu bar (Figure 18). This
feature can be used to run a Quick
Device Discovery for individual HP Web
Jetadmin installations and to invoke or
schedule data synchronization.
The Synchronize feature activates a one-
way data transfer from the discovered HP Web Jetadmin installation to the HP Web Jetadmin
installation launching the feature. Many different data elements can be enabled as part of the data
transfer. Serial number, Port, Model number, Last discovered, Last communication, HP Jetdirect model,
IP hostname, IP address, and Discovery date and time always transfer. This transfer is a one-time
event that can be rescheduled.
