Before starting to work with programs, you should take a few
minutes to become familiar with the Program catalog keys.
You can use any of the following keys (both menu and
keyboard), to perform tasks in the Program catalog.
Program
catalog keys
Key
Meaning
{{EDIT}}
Opens the highlighted program for editing.
{{NEW}}
Prompts for a new program name, then
opens an empty program.
{{SEND}}
Transmits the highlighted program from
another HP 38G or from a disk drive.
{{RECV}}
Receives the highlighted program to another
HP 38G or to a disk drive.
{{RUN}} Runs the highlighted program.
■ ® or®
Moves to the end or the beginning of the
Program catalog.
HID
Delete the highlighted program.
■ {CLEAR}
Deletes all programs in the Program catalog.
To create a
new program
1. Press ■ [PROGRAM] to open the Program catalog.
2. Press {{NEW}}.
The HP 38G prompts you for a file name.

A program name can contain special characters, such as a
space. However, if you use special characters and then run
the program by typing it in HOME, you must enclose the
program name in double quotes (" "). Don't use the "
symbol within your program name.
